Do You Practice What You Preach?

Are you lying to yourself and those you love?

You’re probably thinking, “Whoa, Matt. That's an odd way to start off an email.”

Hear me out.

When you say something is important to you, do you live it out in action? Do you invest most of your time and energy into what you verbally say is important to you?

Words are easy. It doesn’t take anything from you as a person to say:

“My physical fitness is important to me.”

“Our marriage is more important to me than [insert your sports pool here]”

“I’m working so much to provide for us” when in reality it’s because you simply want more success.

Now, don’t read this and believe that I think I’m perfect. I don't, and I’m not, but I am aware of how easy it is to do this.

Use your words to make sure they align with where you spend your time, money, and energy.

I once read something in a book along the lines of - What things do you think about the most and invest your money in the most? Using that filter shows you what your true priorities are.

Here’s a challenge for all of those of you reading this. At the end of each day, write down what someone would say about you if they followed you for every second of the day. What would they say you value and what would they say your priorities are in life? In this scenario you couldn’t verbally tell them the answers.

Find this beneficial? Reply to this email and let me know. I would appreciate hearing from you.
